Guide to Lifeline Alarms

A lifeline alarm is a system that helps elderly loved ones live safely and independently. These clever devices are designed to provide peace of mind and safety for seniors who live alone or may be vulnerable to falling.

The alarm is connected to a central monitoring system, and if there is a problem, the monitoring centre will be alerted. This allows your loved ones to live on their own while knowing that they are always safe.

A lifeline alarm system traditionally consists of two parts; a wearable device that you wear around the wrist like a wristband – or around the neck on a lanyard, and a small box that acts as a base station. Both devices feature an SOS button that you can press in an emergency to call the monitoring centre for help.

Some lifeline alarms can also come as as a 2-in-1 device, such as the device you get with the GO! GPS alarm – an ideal option for active seniors who go out and about.

A lifeline base unit is installed in the home, typically near a main entryway. The base unit has a two-way communication system that can be used to speak with a trained operator at any time. In addition, the base unit has an emergency button that can be used to summon help in the event of an emergency.

A wearable device, such as a pendant or bracelet, is worn either on a lanyard or around the wrist. If your loved one needs assistance, they can push the button on the wearable device, which will trigger the base unit to call for help. Once the call is placed, the operator will assess the situation and provide assistance, if necessary.
