We have different variations of pendant alarms. On our pendant alarm and fall alarm plans, the wearable device connects with a base unit. The base unit stays at home, and  is connected to a 24/7 monitoring service via either your landline telephone or using advanced mobile technology.

Telecare24’s fall alarm plan is a type of an alarm that also has built-in fall detection, meaning it can activate automatically if it detects a fall. We also have a standard pendant alarm plan – this does not have a fall detection feature and needs to be manually activated during an emergency by pressing the panic button on either the wearable device or the base unit.

We also have a GPS pendant alarm. This is an ‘away-from-home’ pendant alarm which depends on mobile network signal and can be freely used outside the home, anywhere in the UK where there is a mobile signal.

Pendant alarms come with a built-in speakerphone, enabling direct two-way communication between the wearer and the careline service responder.

If the person cannot speak, the monitoring centre agent will assume it is an emergency and contact emergency services or their key holders immediately.

The range of the pendant alarm varies depending on the specific device.

Most ‘at-home’ pendant alarms have a range of up to 200 metres from the base unit, which should be sufficient for use in and around the home.

Some pendant alarms such as the GPS alarm from Telecare24 do not have a base unit. Instead, they have built-in GPS technology that lets our team know where you are, making it ideal for somebody who goes out and about most of the time.

The battery life of Telecare24’s of the wearable pendant device is 18-24 months, depending on use.
The base unit that comes paired with the pendant is mains powered.

In the event of a power cut, the base unit has a 48 hour battery backup.

If the pendant alarm is accidentally activated, the monitoring centre will contact the individual to ensure that everything is okay. If they cannot reach anyone, they may contact emergency services as a precaution.
