Is Your Telecare Alarm Ready for the Digital Switchover?

Our national telephone network is going digital.

In 2017, BT announced that Openreach will be switching off the analogue telephone network by 2027 and replacing it with a fully digital network¹.

If you have a telecare alarm that is connected to your home telephone line, it may stop working when your landline is upgraded.

That’s why it’s important to check what type of alarm you have, and if it needs to be upgraded to a digital one.

Where does your alarm base unit plug in?

If your alarm base unit doesn’t need to be plugged into a telephone wall socket, you already have a digital‑ready alarm. No action required.

If your telecare alarm has a base unit that plugs into a telephone wall socket, then you have a landline alarm. Your alarm may be affected by the digital switchover.
