About Dr Hilary Jones
Dr Hilary Jones MBE is an English GP with over 40 years of experience practicing as a medical doctor in England. Dr Hilary Jones earned his medical degree in 1976 from The Royal Free Hospital in London. In 1979, he spent a year as the sole medical officer on Tristan da Cunha, the world's most remote inhabited island. By 1981, he was serving as a GP and Emergency Doctor for the oil industry at Sullom Voe in Shetland through Offshore Medical Support. In the early 1980s, Dr Hilary became a Principal in General Practice and a GP Trainer. He also gained experience as a Senior House Officer in Ophthalmology, where he assisted with glaucoma and cataract surgeries and studied the science of refraction. Dr Hilary began his television career in 1986 by presenting educational medical programs for British Medical TV, which were later picked up by Sky TV for their news segments. Having featured on early morning television programming since May 1989, Jones currently makes a regular appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain where he reports on medical issues and provides health and wellbeing advice to the UK public. Often revered as the country’s "TV Doctor", he also writes for various news and health publications on matters surrounding health and medical advice for the elderly population. In 2020, Dr Hilary Jones was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to broadcasting, public health information and charity.
